Vertical Bicycle Parking for Longtail Bikes

Do you have an extended bike or a bike with a significantly larger wheelbase than a traditional bike? VelowUp!® Longtail offers the solution for space-saving bicycle parking. With this vertical bicycle suspension system, you can easily park your longtail bicycle vertically, without heavy lifting. The special rear wheel bracket ensures that the rear wheel is safely guided, while realising compact bike parking and saving more than 40% of space compared to traditional bike racks. VelowUp!® Longtail is thus a smart bicycle parking system for long bicycles.

Specially designed for long bikes

VelowUp!® Longtail is tailored to the unique needs of long bicycles. The system supports:

  • Longtail bikes with an extended wheelbase.
  • Heavy bikes up to 35 kg, including electric variants.
  • Robust frames and wide wheels, requiring extra stability.

Thanks to its patented design, the system offers stable suspension and prevents damage to wheels or tyres. This allows for controlled vertical suspension of the longtail bike.

Compact design for small spaces

The swivelling design (180 degrees) makes VelowUp!® Longtail ideal for enabling bike storage in small spaces. The system is flexible and can hang bikes both high and low, making the best use of the available space. Even in the most compact locations, this system offers an efficient solution to compact bicycle parking.

Advantages of the VelowUp!® Longtail

Smart bicycle parking with VelowUp!® Longtail

Bicycle parking space is scarce and expensive, while bicycles are becoming heavier, wider, taller and more valuable. Smart bicycle parking is therefore becoming increasingly important. With VelowUp!® Longtail you can create a vertical bicycle shed in which vertical bicycle parking is the standard. It creates a compact, comfortable bicycle parking space for almost any long bicycle.

Frequently asked questions about VelowUp!® Longtail

Why should I choose VelowUp!® Longtail instead of a standard bike rack?

VelowUp! offers significant advantages, such as space-saving, ease of use, and flexibility. Additionally, the front wheel of the bike does not need to be stored in a front wheel bracket. The chance of damage to the front wheel or brake disc is therefore significantly lower compared to storing the bike in a traditional rack with a front wheel bracket. VelowUp! is specially designed to park bikes vertically, allowing you to store more bikes in a small or available space. Furthermore, it is suitable for various bike types, including e-bikes and mountain bikes, and provides protection against damage to wheels and tires.

Can VelowUp!® Longtail be used both indoors and outdoors?

Yes, VelowUp! can be used both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor locations, we recommend choosing VelowUp! Outdoor, this is a stainless steel version of the 'VelowUp!', specially designed for placement in outdoor spaces.

What are the minimum and maximum dimensions for installation?

The recommended minimum clearance height for a low installation is 2m and for a high installation, it is 2.25m. Normally, the VelowUp! units are installed at high/low positions so that the handlebars of bikes parked next to each other overlap. We recommend mounting VelowUp!® units with a minimum center-to-center distance of 35cm. You can determine the center-to-center distance yourself, whether it’s 35cm, 36.3cm, 43cm, or 60cm. In general, the larger the center-to-center distance, the more the bike can be turned toward the wall.

Is the system suitable for intensive use, such as in public bike parking areas?

Yes, VelowUp! is designed for intensive use and is perfect for public bike parking areas such as at train stations, parking garages, and commercial locations. Its robust design is built to withstand daily use by a large number of people.

What types of spaces benefit most from VelowUp!® Longtail?

In principle, VelowUp! is suitable for almost all spaces, such as:

  • Small spaces: such as sheds, garages, or small apartments.
  • Complex spaces, with slanted walls, niches, etc.
  • Relatively low spaces: VelowUp! can already be installed in spaces with a minimum clearance height of 2m.
  • Public bike parking: at stations or parking garages.
  • Corporate bike parking: where efficiency and accessibility are important.
  • Showrooms and stores: for a neat and organized presentation of bikes.
How long does VelowUp!® Longtail last?

Thanks to the high-quality materials and robust design, VelowUp! has a long lifespan, even with intensive daily use.

What is the initial position of the lifting arm of VelowUp!® Longtail?

The starting position of the lifting arm is the low position, so the bike can be parked immediately upon arrival. After the bike is taken out of the VelowUp!®, the lifting arm remains in the low position. Moving the lifting arm down manually is not intended; it is also quite heavy.

How safe is it for delicate bikes like racing bikes?

VelowUp! is specially designed to prevent damage. The front wheel is securely held without pressure points on sensitive parts such as the rims. This makes it ideal for road bikes and other delicate bikes.

How is the system delivered and assembled?

The system comes with mounting plates, fastening materials, and clear instructions. You can attach VelowUp! directly to the wall with 3 screws per mounting plate (a total of 6 screws per VelowUp!). For maximum flexibility, you can opt for mounting on the aluminum profile. If the walls lack sufficient load-bearing capacity or are absent (e.g., in middle spaces), VelowUp! is mounted on a rack system with floor fixation.

Can I customise or expand the VelowUp!® Longtail?

Yes, the system is modular and flexible. You can expand it with multiple VelowUp! units or adapt it to your space using mounting profiles and racks. Additionally, you can extend VelowUp!® with an extended rear plate (VelowUp! Extended), special brackets for extra long bikes (VelowUp! LongTail) or with a rear plate equipped with an additional tie-down bracket, so the rear wheel can also be tied down (VelowUp Hook). For outdoor installation, we recommend choosing the stainless steel version: VelowUp! Outdoor

Does VelowUp!® Longtail require maintenance?

VelowUp! requires minimal maintenance thanks to the patented bike lift mechanism. The system has few moving parts, which minimizes wear and maintenance costs. The high-quality gas spring is equipped with an integrated oil reservoir, allowing the system to lubricate itself during use.

Is VelowUp!® Longtail environmentally friendly?

Yes, by storing bikes efficiently and saving space, VelowUp! contributes to more sustainable mobility. Using less space means that locations are used more effectively, which indirectly contributes to a greener infrastructure.

Can I easily take my bike without moving other bikes?

Yes, each bike is individually accessible. The swivel design ensures that you can easily reach your bike without having to move other bikes.

Are there any installation restrictions?

The system is suitable for sturdy walls and racks. For walls with low load-bearing capacity, a freestanding rack can be used. Ensure that the space meets the minimum height requirements and that there is enough distance between the systems. The minimum recommended clearance height for a "low" position is 2m, and for the "high" position, it is 2.25m.

How many bikes can be stored with one VelowUp!® system?

Each VelowUp! is designed for storing one bike.
